"The North Face Expeditions" include a skiing expedition to the Himalayas, forging new climbing routes in Pakistan and climbing/skiing the 8,000-meter Tibetan peak, Shishapangma. John Wilcox and his American Adventure Productions produce the series. In addition to Wilcox's award-winning aerial photography and point-of-view perspectives, "The North Face Expeditions" also employ first-hand filming by the participating athletes. The stars of the series are both the locations and the explorers. The athletes' feats push boundaries of physical and mental strength. The series document not only physical pursuits, but also the motivations of explorers of all ages. The program allows viewers to hear their stories, how they view challenges and accomplishments, how their aspirations affect their personal relations, and why adventure is their lifeline. Sponsored by The North Face, Inc., "The North Face Expeditions" will be telecast from 5-6 p.m. ET on Sundays beginning on December 12, 1999 and continuing on January 9, 2000, January 16, January 23 and January 30.
